JUNE NEWSLETTER: CARING FOR EVERY SKIN TYPE
Every Client Deserves Exceptional Care
One of the things I value most as an esthetician is ensuring that every client who walks through my door feels comfortable, respected, and confidently cared for. Skin is incredibly diverse, and providing the best possible care means continually learning how different skin types, tones, and concerns respond to treatments and products.
This month, I finished reading Melanin Rich by C.R. Cooper, a book that explores the unique skincare needs, challenges, and experiences of people with melanin-rich skin. It was an insightful reminder that while the skincare industry has made progress, there is still much to learn and improve when it comes to serving all skin tones effectively.
As a skincare professional, I believe education is a lifelong pursuit. Whether you’re an esthetician, skincare enthusiast, or simply someone interested in understanding the current state of skincare for women and men with melanin-rich skin, I highly recommend this book. Every chapter reinforced my commitment to providing thoughtful, personalized care that honors the uniqueness of every client’s skin.

Many common skin concerns—including acne, hyperpigmentation, sensitivity, and inflammation—can present differently in melanin-rich skin. Understanding these differences helps ensure treatments are both effective and safe.
This is one reason I love working with the Hale & Hush skincare line. Hale & Hush was specifically formulated for sensitive and compromised skin and is known for being gentle, barrier-supportive, and appropriate for a wide variety of skin tones and concerns.
I also utilize a professional peel system that includes options specifically designed to be safe and effective for melanin-rich skin. When properly selected and professionally administered, these treatments can help address concerns such as acne, uneven skin tone, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation while respecting the skin’s unique needs.
My goal is always the same: personalized treatments that prioritize skin health, comfort, and long-term results for every client.
