SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER: FALL SKIN TRANSITION

Welcome to the Ber Months

September is here, which means we’re officially entering the “Ber” months! As the weather changes, your skin may change right along with it. Cooler temperatures, lower humidity, and more time indoors can all affect how your skin looks and feels. This month, I’m focusing on simple ways to help your skin stay comfortable, healthy-looking, and radiant through the transition into fall.

How Cooler Weather Can Affect Your Skin

As we move from warm, humid summer days into cooler fall weather, it’s common for skin to feel a little different. You may notice dryness, tightness, rough texture, flaking, or a duller appearance. The drop in humidity can pull moisture from the skin, while indoor heat, hot showers, and wind can make that dryness feel even more noticeable.

For some people, this seasonal change can also bring more sensitivity or flare-ups of concerns such as eczema, psoriasis, redness, or irritation. If your skin suddenly feels less balanced than it did a few weeks ago, it may simply be asking for more gentle care and extra moisture.

Fall is a wonderful time to check in with your skin and give your routine a refresh. A few small adjustments can make a meaningful difference:

  • Use a richer moisturizer. Your lightweight summer moisturizer may not be enough once the weather turns. A more nourishing cream can help support your skin’s moisture barrier and reduce that tight, dry feeling.
  • Be gentle with cleansing. Choose a cleanser that leaves your skin feeling clean but not stripped. If your face feels squeaky-clean or tight after washing, your cleanser may be a little too drying for the season.
  • Don’t skip exfoliation, but don’t overdo it. Gentle, professional exfoliation can help remove dull surface buildup and support a brighter look. At home, be mindful not to layer too many exfoliating products, especially if your skin is already dry or sensitive.
  • Keep up with sunscreen. Even in fall, daily SPF is important. Sun exposure can still contribute to discoloration, sensitivity, and premature signs of aging.
  • Pay attention to your body, too. Your hands, lips, elbows, and legs often show the first signs of seasonal dryness. Applying moisturizer right after bathing can help seal in hydration.
  • Listen to your skin. If a product that worked beautifully in summer is suddenly stinging, causing dryness, or leaving you uncomfortable, it may be time to simplify or switch to something more supportive.

If you’re not sure what your skin needs, that’s exactly what I’m here for. During your visit, we can look at what your skin is doing now, talk through your goals, and create a treatment and homecare plan that feels right for the season.
